Where do I put recessed lighting in my kitchen ?

When a home is built , it is usually equipped like a base model car. No extras or upgrades . The kitchen lighting reflects this . The bare minimum is normally used . It is usually a fluorescent cloud type fixture . We normally replace that with 4 or 5 or 6 recessed lights , depending on the cabinet layout , size of the kitchen and number of windows present .  Then most kitchens have an island or peninsula , over this most people opt for pendant type lighting fixtures as this allows for a different lighting  source and the ability to express themselves in the style of fixture they choose .
